Amsterdam Science School trips (3 or 4 Days)

Our Science school trips to Amsterdam offer a wide range of experiences for students in Biology, Chemistry & Physics. The Nemo Centre uses a wide range of interactive displays to allow students to find out about smart technology, go on a journey through the human brain or discover the power & importance of water. Corpus is equally fascinating, providing students with the opportunity to investigate the workings of the human body in a unique way. The tour can be tailored to meet your requirements.

This tour is available over 3 days via Dover or Hull. You can add a day at Burgers' Zoo near Arnhem on our ecosystems study tour where your students can explore the variety of different ecosystems.  There is also the option of combining with another subject, such as Geography, History or Religious Studies.




Day One:  Outward Journey

  Corpus Exterior - Science school trips to Amsterdam
  • School pick-up (earliest 06.00 hours) & travel to Dover
  • Ferry to Calais or Dunkirk
  • Onward travel to Amsterdam
  • Check-in & evening meal
  • Full-board for two nights

Day Two:  The Nemo Science Museum & Amsterdam

  • Depart after breakfast to visit the Nemo Science Museum
  • Interactive displays: biology     • technology • water • physics


  • Free time in Dam Square
  • Optional visit to Corpus
  • Return to accommodation & evening meal
  • Optional activity (e.g. canal cruise or flower market - see leisure options for other choices available)

Day Three:  Return Journey

  • Depart after breakfast & travel to Calais or Dunkirk
  • Cross-Channel ferry to Dover
  • Disembark & return to school
  • Return time dependent on school's location in the UK


Add an Extra Day

  • Visits to Corpus & the Sea Life Centre, Scheveningen
  • Theme Park visit (Efteling, Walibi World, Duinrell)
  • See other tours available
  • Combine with History or RS & include visits to the Anne Frank House & Kamp Vught
  • Geography: urban regeneration / rebranding
  • Add a "fun" day at a theme park (see leisure options)
  • This can help you sell your  tour - especially if you have competition with other trips

For many teachers (& their students) a visit to Amsterdam is not only a learning opportunity but also a chance to experience the city. Some of the activities below take a relatively short amount of time (up to an hour). Others require a longer period where it would be best to allocate 2 to 3 hours to get the full value. For more information talk to our Tour Administrators for further details & prices (where applicable).


Free Options

  • Dam Square & the Nine Streets. This central square is always bustling. The nearby Nine Streets are packed with vintage & designer shops
  • Flea markets: Amsterdam has more than 40 markets. Try the Noordemarkt in the Jordaan district or haggle at the Waterlooplein market 
  • Bloemenmarkt: Located on the Singel Canal, this floating flower market, with stalls on canal houseboats,  is the only one of its kind in the world.

  • Canal cruise: Discover the historic 17th century canal ring, why it was built & the history & architecture of the merchants' houses & landmarks along the route   
  • National Maritime Museum: Maritime trade fuelled the Golden Age. Discover 500 years of Maritime history & visit the replica Dutch East Indiaman Amsterdam
  • Late Night Galleries: Several galleries have extended opening times once or twice a week (usually Thursdays or Fridays)

  • Efteling: Fantasy-themed amusement park with attractions based on myth, legend, fables & folklore. One of the oldest theme parks in the world

Galina has over 25 years' experience in organising school trips for school & youth groups to Paris. We therefore offer the services of your own Tour Administrator who will guide you through each step of the process, from your initial enquiry to your departure & return. 


We have developed a number of useful documents that will help you when preparing to launch your tour & with your visit application via the Senior Management or your EVC.
