| Arques Crystal Works - renowned for it's glassware, the factory is the oldest and most important in the region. A visit includes an introduction on the history of the company, an audio-visual presentation explaining the various stages of manufacturing and an opportunity to see part of the manufacturing process. |

| La Coupole - this V2 site near St Omer contains exhibitions and audio-visual displays on Germany's secret weapons during the Second World War, the subsequent development of space flight after the war and life in occupied France. A tour of the site includes the underground galleries, launch pad and authentic V1 and V2 weapons. |

| Calais - the most famous citizens of Calais were the six burghers who gave themselves up to the mercy of Edward III in order to spare the rest of the population when the English besieged the town at the beginning of the Hundred Years' War. Rodin's statue in front of the Hotel de Ville commemorates their courage. The XIIIth century watch tower dominates the market place in the Place d'Armes. According to tradition it was from this tower that Jean de Vienne, informed the populace of Edward III's terms for surrender. The Church of Notre Dame is unique in France combining XIIIth century French Gothic with the XIVth century English Perpendicular style of architecture. The War Museum opposite the Hotel de Ville is housed in one of the largest bunkers of the Atlantic Wall defences and was a command post of the German Kriegsmarine during the Second World War. |

A typical 2-day tour |

| Day 1: Pick up from school and travel via executive coach/cross-channel ferry to your hotel for evening meal. |

| Day 2: Breakfast in hotel followed by an excursion to Arques Crystal Works or La Coupole. In the afternoon, practise your language skills in Calais and visit a hypermarket before returning to UK and school. |
