Religion, War & Ethics in Ypres (via Dover)

Typical Three-Day Itinerary via Dover

Day One:  Outward Travel

School pick-up (06.00 hours approx) & travel via Dover to the Ypres area.  Full-board accommodation in the Ypres area 

Throughout the tour, content will be linked to locations & explanations given in relation to context, significance & relevance

 

Day Two:  Ypres

Depart after breakfast to visit:

Hooge Crater War Cemetery, Essex Farm ADS (Advanced Dressing Station) Dug-outs & Cemetery, Yorkshire Trench, St George’s Anglican Chapel &/or St Martin’s Roman Catholic Cathedral in Ypres, Tyne Cot Cemetery & Visitor Centre, Langemark German Cemetery

Last Post Service at the Menin Gate at 20.00 hours

Full-board in the Ypres area 

 

Day Three:  Options

Visit one of the following options according to which one best suits your specification:

(a) La Coupole V2 Rocket Site, St Omer (most specifications)

(b) In Flanders Fields Museum (most specifications)

(c) Messines, Irish Peace Tower & Ypres Reservoir Cemetery (OCR Specification B)

Travel to Calais for afternoon ferry to Dover.  Disembark & return to school.  Drop-off at 21.30-23.00 hours (approx)

 

Tour Includes: 

Itinerary as outlined above, school pick-up & drop-off, study pack & teachers’ notes, 49-seater executive coach with seat-belts, return ferry via Dover, two nights' full-board accommodation in the Ypres area & risk assessment.
