Neil Anderson (History / Military Guide)
- BA (Hons) in History from Manchester University
- 32 years experience of teaching History, 21 as a Head of Department.
- History A level Subject Panel member for OCR.
- Has been a Galina Tour Guide since 1998 and previous to this a Galina client.
- Has successfully guided more than 120 Galina groups – both schools and military/adult groups.
Ian Daglish (History / Military Guide)
- Read History at Trinity College, Cambridge.
- Lectured at Sandhurst, The Tank Museum and several universities and has appeared on the BBC.
- His specialist area is the Normandy Campaign of 1944, from the first airborne landings in June to the breakout in August.
- Ian has led tours for both military and civilian groups.
- He is the author of several books on key Normandy battles.
Alison Hine (History / English / Military Guide)
- BA in English and French from University of Strathclyde.
- PGCE from Jordanhill College.
- MA in Military History from the University of Liverpool.
- Has taught English and has served in the Army as a Colonel (Women’s Royal Army Corps and the Adjutant General’s Corps).
- Served in the UK, Northern Ireland and Hong Kong.
- Graduate of the Joint Services Defence College.
- Has been a Galina Tour Guide since 2004.
- Has successfully guided tours for schools, Military groups and veteran associations.
- Specialist knowledge of the poetry of the First World War in addition to her detailed understanding of the political and organisational aspects involved.
- Member of the Western Front Association, Battlefields Trust and the Centre for First World War Studies at Birmingham University, where she is studying for a PhD.
- Member of the Guild of Battlefield Guides.
Jo Hook (Military Guide)
- Jo is a Sergeant with the TA Royal Signals units and has 14 years experience of service.
- Based in Germany with a specialist knowledge of Operation Market Garden.
- Worked as a guide for several Regiments, Signal Squadrons and the RAF.
- Currently involved in researching the Gallipoli Campaign.
- Has guided several Galina groups since 2006.
- Member of the Guild of Battlefield Guides.
Jack Tucker (History / English Guide)
- 30 years experience teaching History in schools in Birmingham.
- Prior to becoming a Galina Guide, Jack was a client.
- Has guided both History and Literature tours.
- Secretary of the Western Front Association (Birmingham Branch).
- Particular areas of interest are the Royal Warwickshire Regiment.
- Has guided over 30 Galina Study tours to the 3 main British sectors of the Western Front.
Trevor Boag (English Guide)
- BA (Hons) in English and History.
- Has a PGCE
- 35 years experience as a teacher and AQA Examiner of English Language and Literature.
- Deputy Head teacher for 16 years and was an Acting Head for 2 years of a North Yorkshire Secondary School.
- Prior to becoming a Galina Guide, Trevor had travelled as a client with Galina for 7 years.
- Specialises in the Literature of the First World War (poetry, prose and drama).
John Sadler (History Guide)
- BA (Hons) in Law from Northumbria University.
- M.Phil in Law from the University of Westminster.
- Currently studying for a PhD in History.
- Lecturer in Military History at Sunderland University Centre for Lifelong Learning.
- Has had several works published.
- Currently Heritage Project Development Officer for Durham County Council.
- Has worked for Galina as a Guide since 2004, taking groups to the Western Front and Normandy.
Duncan Byrne (Military Guide)
- Major in the Royal Logisitics Corps with service in the Falklands Campaign and in Northern Ireland.
- Has been involved in running tours to Gallipoli, Monte Cassino, Anzio and El Alamein.
- Specialises in the logistical planning of modern warfare.
- Has undertaken research for the Royal Logistics Corps Museum in relation to the role of the Royal Army Service Corps in the First World War.
Ian Taylor (History / Military Guide)
- Served in the Territorial Army, including 2 operational tours in the Balkans.
- Specialises in leading tours for Services and Ex Services groups such as the Normandy Veterans Association.
- Has over 20 years experience visiting the Normandy battlefields.
- Ian uses his own extensive collection of published material (including audio visual sources) to tailor tours specifically to the needs of any group.
- Member of the Guild of Battlefield Guides.
Marcus Edwards (Geography Guide)
- BSc (Hons) in Geology from the University of Birmingham.
- PGCE in Geography from Liverpool Hope University.
- 13 years experience as a Head of Department and 3 years as a Faculty Leader for Humanities.
- Has been extensively trained in relation to AfL Strategies in Teaching and Learning.
- Specialises in Geography Tours to Paris and Amsterdam.
- Has examined for GCSE and A level Geography for AQA.
- As a teacher, led various tours to a range of locations in the UK and Europe.
- Has an in depth knowledge of the GCSE and A level specifications offered by the 4 main exam boards in Geography which enables the tours led by him to be tailored specifically to the groups requirements.

- 17 years experience as an English teacher, Head of Dept.and Head of Faculty.

Robin Stewart (English Guide)

- Over 30 years experience as a teacher / lecturer.
- Has taught English Language / Literature and Drama in both Secondary and Tertiary education.
- Experience in leading numerous residential experiences for students including theatrical productions, sports and battlefield tours.
- Specialises in WW1 and WW2, with the interest stemming from his childhood and two generations of family involvement.
- Has worked as a Guide with Galina since January 2008, leading tours to France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Ian Riley (Maths / History / English Guide)
- TD, BSc (Hons), FSA Scot.
- Physics graduate from the University of Liverpool.
- A former Head of Mathematics in a large secondary school.
- Has worked as a TA Officer with the HQ of 24 (Airmobile) Brigade of the Regular Army.
- Heavily involved with the Liverpool Scottish Regimental Museum.
- A member of the King’s Regiment Museum Advisory Committee.
- Currently working on an MA in First World War Studies at Birmingham University.
- Has developed Galina’s ‘Maths of War’ Study Pack.
- Specialist areas include trench warfare, tactical development, logisitics, strategy and war poetry.
- He is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, a member of the Royal United Service Institute and the Mathematical Association.
