Christmas Markets

A very old tradition and in the month of December you can find them in many European cities. There are mega Christmas markets, as in Cologne, and smaller ones in other towns and villages. The nineteenth century atmosphere is unique and includes the blare of trumpets, illuminated and decorated christmas trees, handcrafted toys, clothes and thousands of other items. And don't forget to try the traditional Bratwurst with a cup of hot wine.
 

Your Tour Choices
Cologne - actually there are four separate Christmas Markets, plus an excellent pedestrian shopping precinct. This is backed up by a world class Roman museum, a variety of other attractions including medieval churches and an outstanding selection of restaurants, including one of the best schwienehaxe (grilled pig leg) restaurants in the world.
 
Aachen - each year the Christmas Market in Aachen attracts visitors from all over Germany and around the world. The Christmas celebrations around the cathedral and the town hall provide a multitude of stalls offering crafts, gifts and local delicacies.
 
 

A typical 4-day tour
Day 1:   Pick up from school and travel by executive coach/cross-channel ferry to hotel for evening meal.
 
Day 2:   Breakfast in hotel followed by a visit to your market of choice. Return to hotel for evening meal.
 
Day 3:   Breakfast in hotel followed by a day's sightseeing. Return to hotel for evening meal.
 
Day 4:   Breakfast in hotel before return to UK and school.
