Nausicaa - Imagine yourself on the deck of a French deep-sea trawler, weeks out from its home port of Boulogne, pitching and tossing in a bitter North Sea gale... actually it's a walk-in exhibit at Boulogne's new multi-million pound sea-world museum in Boulogne. But this is merely the beginning. Students will have opportunities to :
- investigate how the sea is being polluted
- examine the environmental threat to fish stocks
- explore life in a tropical lagoon and a cold sea
- see how life exists in the ocean depths
- come eye to eye with some of the sea's largest predators
- discover how it is possible for man to both manage and enjoy the sea
- and the lucky ones may even get to stroke a ray
|
There are :
- 11,000 sea animals
- 4 million litres of sea water and very large tanks
- 45,000 litres of water in the diamond-shaped, glass and steel, tuna bank
- 600,000 litres of water in the selachian pool where 11 large sharks and thousands of bream are brought together (public view from inside a glass dome)
- 1 million litres of sea water for sea lions
- 800,000 litres for the open-sea tank
- 600,000 litres of sea water for the tropical lagoon

| A tremendous learning experience for National Curriculum Science with particular reference to 'Variation and classification' and 'Living things in their environment'. |
