Paris and Disneyland Paris |
Eiffel Tower - designed by Gustave Eiffel and erected in 1889 for the Universal Exposition. It is 317 metres high and weighs over 10,000 metric tons. Visitors can ascend the tower by stairs or lift. There are displays on each of the four levels and Eiffel's office is situated on the top floor. |
| Montmartre and Sacre Coeur - the Basilica of Sacre Coeur de Montmartre was financed by public subscription following the Franco-Prussian War of 1870. and was consecrated after the end of the First World War in 1919. Montmartre is well-known as the artist's quarter in Paris. |
| Place de la Concorde - built between 1755 and 1775. During the Revolutionary period it was called the Place de la Revolution and was the site of Louis XVI's execution. |
| Arc de Triomphe - Napoleon ordered the construction of the Arc de Triomphe to celebrate his many victories. The French Unknown Soldier is buried underneath the main arch. |
| Champs Elysees - stretching from the Jardin des Tuilleries to the Arc de Triomphe the Champs Elysees is Paris' main thoroughfare and was designed by Baron Haussmann when the city's main avenues were remodelled during Napoleon III's reign. |
| Notre Dame - constructed between 1163 and 1345, the cathedral of Notre Dame de paris is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. |
Disneyland Paris - Pupil Study Packs produced by Disneyland Paris encourage listening, speaking, reading and writing of French. The activities focus the pupils on specific topics within the Theme Park and ensure that pupils keep a record of the visit for use in the classroom. The Field Activity Sheets are varied in approach and style and the school can make as many photocopies as are required. Activity Sheets and copies of Teacher's Notes will be sent upon booking. The design of the pack allows for flexibility of use depending on the level of study, pupil ability and time available.There are pre-tour class activities relating to the French economy, culture and tourism and cross-curricular links with geography are possible with activities such as why France and particularly the Marne-la-Vallee region was chosen for the Disney Resort in Europe. Once in DisneylandŽ Paris the activity sheets encourage pupils to match attractions to particular themed "lands", read signs, talk in French to Disney characters and speak French in the resort to ask for directions, order meals buy souvenirs and make observations about their visit. |
A typical 4-day itinerary |
| Day 1: Pick up from school and travel via executive coach/cross-channel ferry to your hotel for evening meal. |
| Day 2: Breakfast in hotel followed by a morning visit to Montmartre and Sacre Coeur. Afternoon tour including Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower, Champs Elysee, Arc de Triomphe and Place de la Concorde. Return to hotel for evening meal. An optional evening River Seine cruise can be included in your itinerary for a small extra charge. |
| Day 3: Breakfast in hotel followed by a day in Disneyland Paris. The entrance fee is included in the price of the tour. Return to the hotel for the evening meal. An optional evening excursion of Paris by night can be added to your schedule for a small extra charge. |
