Locations

Champs Elysées

Arc de Triomphe

Eiffel Tower/French school trips

Originally laid out by André Le Notre in 1667, the Champs Elysées stretches just over a mile between the Luxor Obelisk in the Place de la Concorde) & the Arc de Triomphe which is located in the Place Charles de Gaulle.

Commissioned by Napoleon in 1806 following his victory at Austerlitz the year before. Work stopped following his abdication & it was not completed until 1836 by order of King Louis Phillipe. The tomb of the French Unknown Soldier lies here.

Paris Montparnasse Tower

Les Invalides

Founded by Louis XIV for wounded or impoverished soldiers in the 1670s. The Dȏme des Invalides contains the tomb of Napoleon.

Notre Dame Cathedral

Built in the French Gothic style between 1163 & 1345, Notre Dame is located on the Ȋle de la Cité. Desecrated during the Revolution, it was restored in the 1840s during Louis Philippe’s reign.

Eiffel Tower

Gustave Eiffel designed the Tower for the World Exhibition of 1889, commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the French Revolution. It was not immediately popular although today it is the most visited paying tourist attraction in the world.

Tuileries Gardens

Montparnasse Tower

Located between the Louvre & the Place de la Concorde, the Gardens of the former Tuileries Palace were originally created in 1564 by Catherinde de Medici. André Le Notre redesigned the Gardens in the late 1660s. The Palace itself was destroyed in 1871. The Fête des Tuileries (June to August) is now held here every year.

The Montparnasse Tower is 210 metres tall & offers an iconic view of Paris with the Eiffel Tower at its heart. It is said to be the best view of Paris simply because it is the only place from where it cannot be seen! Such was the outcry when it was constructed, the law was changed in 1975 to limit the height of future buildings in the capital.

Testimonials

Haywood Engineering College, Stoke-on-Trent

"We have recently returned from a school trip to Paris.  The trip was a great success & was enjoyed by both staff & students.  We would just like to say that this was in a large part due to your driver Ian.  From the outset he was friendly, pleasant & co-operative & established good relationships with both staff & students."

Brentford School for Girls

"My tour administrator was very helpful & made changes according to our requests.  Very happy."

Scalby School, Scarborough

"Excellent communication throughout the lead up to the trip.  Driver, Neil, was absolutely superb.  I would love to travel with him again!  The hotel was in a great location for us.  The breakfasts were superb, the staff friendly & I liked the way the room allocation had all been sorted for our arrival.  We were so impressed by the efficiency of Galina & how pleasant Dominique and Marlène are – they both go out of their way to deal with any problems."

Thomas Gainsborough School, Sudbury, Suffolk

"The whole trip was a great success & I would like to repeat exactly the same thing next year – same week."
