Shakespeare's Stratford English School Trips (1 or 2 Days)

William Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon: Your students will explore Shakespeare's birthplace on a guided walk through the town, placing his life & work within the context of his time. An organised workshop is also included, based upon a specific Shakespeare play or an aspect of theatrical production & tailored to your students' specification requirements.

At GCSE this tour will be especially relevant to Assessment Objectives 1 ('develop an informed personal response') and 3 ('understanding of the relationships between texts and the contexts in which they were written').

One-Day Tour (for schools within 120 miles of Stratford)

  Royal Shakespeare Theatre - Stratford school trips


  • School pick-up (typically between 07.00 to 09.00 hours) & travel to Stratford
  • Visit the Royal Shakespeare Theatre
  • Theatre workshop on a Shakespeare play of your choice
  • Visit to Shakespeare's birthplace
  • Guided walking tour of Shakespeare's Stratford including a visit to Shakespeare's grave in Holy Trinity Church

Performances and Workshops



The RSC offer both full and half-day workshops for student groups up to a maximum group size of 30


These workshops are tailored to your group's requirements and prior knowledge of your chosen play

The workshops take place in the Clore Learning Centre which is a short distance from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon





We can make a group booking for you to watch a performance in one of the two auditoria. This can be combined with a workshop and a tour of the theatre

David has worked closely with Nottinghamshire County Council to research the impact of the Great War on the county & has given numerous presentations to Western Front Association branches & historical societies. His specialism is the literature of the Great War & the impact of war on Nottinghamshire. Since joining us in 2014, his guide experience includes Western Front tours for both History & English groups.

David has over 30 years' experience teaching History & English in secondary schools & lecturing to undergraduates at Derby & Nottingham Universities.

This youth hostel is located in an old Georgian mansion house set its own grounds in the village of Alveston. The Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon is a little over 2 miles from the hostel as is Shakespeare's birthplace. Mary Arden's Farm is on the other side of Stratford, 6 miles distant. Warwick Castle is also relatively close being only 9 miles away (approximately 20 minutes by coach).
