| La Haye Sainte - Napoleon's main assaults were directed against the troops in this farm and surrounding area beginning with d'Erlon's Corps, repulsed by the famous charge of the Household and Union Brigades and continuing with Ney's cavalry charges against the British squares during the afternoon. Ney's capture of La Haye Sainte in the early evening caused the Allied centre to waver. Wellington took swift action to plug the gaps in his line. |
