In a recent article published on The School Travel Organiser website, Pete Davy, the Health & Safety Coordinator at Boston College discusses that after the recent Paris attacks why he went ahead with a trip to Paris.
The trip was to Disneyland Paris and was scheduled for the 30th November. Mr Davy goes on to explain that as Health & Safety Coordinator it was his duty to sign off educational trips with the school principal. A new risk assessment had to be drawn up & seeking travel advice from the Foreign Office and to think carefully about the safety of students & staff aswell as address their parents concerns. After much consideration the school decided to go ahead with the Paris trip.
Mr Davy explained that he wanted extra security in light of recent events and instructed the services of Locuro which is a remarkable mobile phone tracking product which has been especially designed for school trips.
Locuro enables parents access & communication on a strict permissions only basis. Approved parents can log in from any internet enabled PC to share in their childs route, photos & trip experience specifically related to trips that their own child is involved in. At a more complex level, Locuro has a 24/7 emergency response centre that monitors global threats around the world. It’s serviced by ex-RAF staff who have worked in fields like radar and intelligence in the past. For further details on Locuro, visit Locuro.com.
Mr Davy went on to say that the software gave the parents & staff real peace of mind whilst on their trip. To read the full article visit http://www.schooltravelorganiser.com/Features/Why-we-went-ahead-with-our-Paris-trip.
